June 14-20, 2013, To carry out consultancy work for the sustainability of the QUICK program and strengthening the Regional network for Iodine Laboratories Frits van der Haar, UNICEF consultant, Executive Director of the Global Public Nutrition Services visited KAN’s Iodine Laboratory

April 2, 2013, in the framework of the QUICK program Quality Control samples (Round 03-2013) were shipped to iodine Labs of CEE/CIS region for determination of accurate performance of urinary iodine analyses. Also a report for Round 02-2012 was sent.

January, 2013, The manual for iodine Lab staff “Iodine Measuring in Urine by a Persulfate Method Using Internal Quality Control” was issued.

October 16, 2012, in the framework of the QUICK program Quality Control samples (Round 02-2012) were shipped to iodine Labs of CEE/CIS region for determination of accurate performance of urinary iodine analyses. Also a report for Round 01-2012 was sent.

May 1, 2012, The laboratories from Bulgaria, Turkey and Rumania joined the Regional Network of resource laboratories for iodine in the CEE / CIS countries have joined . Now, our network consists of 19 iodine laboratories. Welcome!

March 2, 2012, in the framework of the QUICK program Quality Control samples were shipped to all iodine Labs of CEE/CIS region for determination of accurate performance of urinary iodine analyses.

September 02, 2011, Iodine Laboratory of Kazakh Academy of Nutrition participates in the State Program of Health "Salamatty Kazakhstan 2011-2015".

June 27, 2011, Representatives of iodine Laboratory from Moldova trained ammonium persulfate method of determining urinary iodine in iodine Laboratory of Kazakh Academy of Nutrition (KAN).

June 15-16, 2011, Almaty (Kazakhstan), the International Regional Workshop, where the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan on behalf of international organizations, united in the fight against iodine deficiency, was awarded a certificate of achieving universal salt iodization. Also, the Regional Network of resource laboratories for iodine was inaugurated, established in order to strengthen the quality control of laboratory iodine assessments. The Workshop was attended by representatives of iodine laboratories from 14 countries-members of the regional network.

April, 06, 2011, Labs from Makedonia, Russia, Ukraine, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, and Kyrgyz Republic has accepted the invitation to join in the Regional Resource Laboratories for Iodine (RRLI) Network at the present moment.

June, 2011, Almaty, Kazakhstan. Opening of the Regional Resource Laboratories for Iodine (RRLI) Network and  Inaugural workshop for labs technicians/administrators from the CEE/CIS Region  is planned. Representatives of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan, international organizations as CDC, UNICEF, ICCIDD, MI, WHO, KAN will participate in the Conference, also laboratories staff, which became a member of RRLI network for CEE/CIS will be invited.

In January, 2011 Regional resource laboratory sent QC samples at desire of the iodine Lab of Tianjin Medical University (China) for improving the laboratory analyses quality and adequate evaluation of iodine status among Tianjin population.

From November, 15 to December, 2, 2010 Amir Makhmudov (CDC) had work trip in regional resource Lab of KAN with aim of conducting training for Lab staff and assessment of the Lab activities.
